Hope you had a lovely weekend. To help you keep organised for the rest of the year, today I am going to show you how to make your very own peg board. I’ve seen quite a few of these around the shops recently and I wanted to make one of my own and show you how easy it is to make one of your own. Not only will it be handmade by you, but it will be a unique addition to your home.
To make your memo peg board all you will need is:
- A piece of wood (this can be any size you want depending on how big or small you would like to make your board. The one I made is 34cmx10cm. I used some wood that we had left over from a fence panel).
- Pegs (already decorated or simple washing line pegs)
- A glue gun or other strong adhesive such as wood glue.
- A peice of wire
- A drill or tool to pierce a hole into the wood.
- Coloured marker pens
I will show you two designs you can make. One with fancy decorated pegs you can buy in gift or craft shops. The other with plain washing line pegs.
Once you have cut your wood to your preferred size. Lay your pegs on the wood to determine where they will go, Then using a pencil make a mark so you know where you are going to glue them.
If you decide to use plain washing line pegs, you could decorate them first using your marker pens. I drew on some indian mendhi designs.
Be creative and draw a design on the wood using your marker pens. once you are happy with your design, glue your pegs to the wood.
Make a small hole on both ends of the wood to enable you to attach the wire.
I tied a pretty red bow and some beads to finish mines off.
I started using mine as soon as it was finished. It now takes pride of place in our kitchen next to our calendar!
